flight bound

Well,  do you ever start something and have no idea what it will look like in the end?  This cover is kinda like that.  I still can't decide if its finished... I currently am out of paper to fill my covers with, so I might have to finish binding my books when i get to the states (which is in about a month!).

I think there could be a ton more red and blue lines....

The cover measures about 7in. wide and 5 in. tall.

Pocket of pomegranates

I have a large amount of leftover paper.  Its a handful of different scraps.  So i chose to make little pocket books.  They are pretty simple and a good size to keep for those daily inspirations to jot down.

Can I still...

Draw?

Lately i feel like i can't.  I feel more compelled to put patterns and colors together.  I hope to get back into drawing when i go home.  A little over a month now. :)  I got myself an easel and i'm quite excited to use it and get it dirty.  Here's an old drawing i did a couple months ago.

Its a close up of Jennifer anderson's work.   I'm a bit jealous of her painting skills.

I know an artist must be better than their materials, but I am waiting for the day to use good materials again.
Its kinda like cooking with bad equipment, or cooking with mediocre ingredients.  It doesn't feel good and you never get the right punch.    Korea doesn't have the best materials for pastels or paper.  They have great ink and patterned paper though.

I can't wait to use:

Sennelier pastels
Rives BFK paper

and all my encaustic supplies, along with my wood burning tools.

I also can't wait for the wonderful (yet harmful) scents that are carried with them all.  :)

36 days and counting.

Hardback Part 2

I recently made a handful of books for the teachers at my school for Christmas.  There are nine books that I made in total.  Some were hardback and others were stab biding.  Overall most of them came out nicely and i think I'm am getting to closer to combing patterns and colors to my liking.  So enjoy them in the next few posts.

New in hardback

These are my first attempts to making a hardback book.  I don't know if they will work the best long term, but I think I'm on to something.

I'm going to have to fix those ripples.  Oops.
